PROCESS DISCRIPTION :

The production of oxygen gas from atmospheric air is based on pressure swing adsorption technology (PSA) principle by adsorption of nitrogen gas using by special grade zeolite molecular sieves (ZMS). Atmospheric air( contains 20-21 % oxygen gas ) is compressed by screw air compressor with air dryer to a pressure 7.5 kg/cm2. The condensed moisture is drained automatically from air receiver by automatic drain valve (ADV). This air is passed through a twin tower PSA module packed with special grade zeolite molecular sieves and activated allumina. One tower is switched on to adsorption while other simultaneously regenerated by depressurization to atmosphere. The entire operation is totally automatic and is controlled by sequence programming timer. Raw oxygen gas is produced by PSA unit. Now this oxygen gas flows to surge vessel to balance the fluctuation in pressure and concentration. Now the oxygen gas is stored in storage tank ready to use.

In medicine, oxygen is used during surgery, intensive care treatment, inhalation therapy etc. high standard of purity and handling must be maintained. Oxygen is typically supplied to hospitals through bulk liquid deliveries, and then distributed to usage points. It assists with respiratory problems saving lives and increasing patient comfort.

Larger scale unit using which also use non cryogenic air separation technology, are being utilized in small and / remote hospitals where demand is high enough to make cylinders deliveries a logistical and handling problems but somewhere liquid oxygen deliveries are unavailable or very costly. These units typically producing 90 to 95 % purity oxygen, which is adequate for most medical users.
